Finding and maintaining a balanced perspective in an environment of wildly opposing forces is a useful skill, like a kayaker able to choose a channel through raging rapids of whitewater. I banged my kayak against a few polarized rocks before finding my channel, and now the ride is much smoother, though the waters rage around me. Jill, I was quite influenced by the PLANDEMIC and Out of Shadows videos, plus interviews with several who have been speaking out. I was also influenced by the Snopes site. Now I am content to have all these views stored in a back room of my mind, and apply pieces of them as the actual, lived experience plays out. Thank you for your well thought through and balanced view, and for the comments from others it inspired. May I reprint your post on the Whole Human site? ~ Gary Certainly. Thank you for your comments, which echo my experiences... I love your imagery! ~ Jill Jill Garsden Definition of 'fanatic' from the Merriam-Webster dictionary: "disapproving : a person exhibiting excessive enthusiasm and intense uncritical devotion toward some controversial matter". It seems impossible to escape the polarized views that abound at present with regard to things like the "Plandemic" video that has been circulated and repeatedly removed from various platforms. However, what I am about to say applies to any controversial issue, from religion to politics to environmental management to anything in between. The cost of keeping an open mind on controversial topics is not just the lack of mental and emotional security that comes with accepting and living in a state of uncertainty. The cost also includes condemnation from those who are so fanatical in their acceptance of one view or another that one is labelled 'gullible' or 'naive' merely for inquiring why their acceptance is so unconditional. It may also include the angry attribution of other inappropriate and inaccurate descriptors and attributes, such as 'dangerous', 'sticking your head in the sand', 'ignorant', and so on. If you publicly show that you have an open mind, your past perspectives or acts that have been shown to be mistaken may be blown out of all proportion to 'prove' that other views you hold must be wrong, and those who accuse you of being wrong hold information derived from sources regarded as definitive - and I include certain 'fact-checking' sites in this - as truths that are not be questioned. In short, keeping an open mind can be a lonely occupation. The purpose of this post is NOT to defend the "Plandemic" video or any other source of information available to the public, be that source mainstream science or very alternative. I am well aware that misinformation abounds, perhaps more than we realize, and that it may potentially be dangerous. It is for that very reason that, as a matter of principle, I keep my mind open and pursue my own research on controversial issues, including my own medical treatment. I am not into making blanket judgements about the relative merits of either accepted science or so-called 'conspiracy theories', or about the people whose views are crystallized at one polarity or another. I have never found that there are no exceptions to any judgement I could make on those things. Nor am I, generally, into thoughtlessly sharing information that may be harmful to others or that may unnecessarily reinforce perspectives that are already rigidly adhered to. I am simply making a statement about my own need, and that of many others I know, to investigate information for ourselves and not be bullied into accepting a certain point of view just because it is regarded as truth by those who hold it. Has our society become so fanatical in its outlook that that it will not allow and accept this freedom? Can we not discuss our perceptions with one another without resorting to emotive labels and name-calling and threatening the loss of relationship, but instead with genuine curiosity and attempts to understand the reason behind the perception? Today we are celebrating Mothers' Day. In a sense, each of us, whether male or female, is a mother, because we are all engaged in the process of birthing the reality which we and our children are to live in. I want that reality to be one of love, respect, truth and freedom. I do not want it to be one of fear, hatred, indoctrination and limitation. But I've seen many posts that appear to generate the latter. All I'm saying here is that we could all be a little more thoughtful in the way we respond to controversy of any kind. Few of us would regard ourselves as fanatics, but, sadly, it appears that many of us are.
