​Dialog 002 - Practical O.B.

NATE:

Individual existence and greater existence - is this not an illusion of separation?

GARY:

For some, it will seem we are saying individual and the greater existences are separate. They are distinct from each other but not separate. I see the greater existence as the totality, the absolute, the unmoved mover. It is also O.B., pure consciousness, the creative source and the true self of all that is. If anything is an illusion, it must the flicker of individual existence -- a distortion of reality. The individual is separated from the 'greater' only by constricted human awareness which has not yet been expanded by O.B. consciousness. 

NATE:

Where do you draw the line? I can only see the lines drawn in the imagination.

GARY:

Lines would separate, wouldn't they. There are no lines, only distinctions of frequency. An individual who experiences O.B. consciousness experiences the dissolution of imagined lines as the borders between discrete objects become less and less defined.

NATE:

When my mind and body sleep in death, I cannot eat, drink, feel rested, notice the change in the air between summer and fall...so what then is the state of my being? 

GARY:

That is an unknown, a mystery unfolding. Your individual being may no longer have a sense of separate self when the body rests in death. It center of awareness may return to the origin from which it came. Or, it may have expanded itself by living from O.B. consciousness so that it does continue after the body's death, as a center of awareness. Maybe it needs dense slowed matter to know itself, maybe not.

NATE:

If the world continues after I die, which I believe it does, then I will no longer experience it. Other beings will, but I will feel none of it. I won't think anything about it. I won't interact with it.

GARY:

It sounds like you are convinced your center of awareness and sense of self will discontinue at the death of your body. That may or may not be so. My innate feeling is that my sense of self continues in some form after the death of this body.

NATE:

But what is practical and what is more? Where do you draw such a line? 

GARY:

We agree that O.B. consciousness only has effect in the world when it is embodied by consistent actions which are aligned with that higher frequency. Yes?

NATE:

Is not what we call practical actually being present in the one reality, which we are experiencing now and only now? 

GARY:

Where is the line drawn between being present and being absent? What is the quality that is present or absent? There is one reality, but varying degrees of O.B.'s presence in human awareness, which determines the quality of the experience. It also determines whether one lives from individual human awareness or from a foundation of O.B. consciousness with individual as needed.

The greater the absence of O.B. consciousness from human awareness, the stronger the sense of individual existence apart from all else.

I have experienced these degrees of distinction. With more O.B. in my awareness, I am more confident, compassionate, patient, tolerant and so on. What was aggravating or distressing is less so or not at all. I have greater equanimity, that is, calmness in the midst of turmoil though I am also more sensitive towards O.B.-absent chaos.

A dictionary defines practical as 'of or concerned with the actual doing or use of something rather than with theory and ideas.'

Two people can perform exactly the same task with apparently the exact same outcome, yet there can be a significant distinction between them according to the presence or absence of O.B. consciousness in the actions. A small child can be dressed, for example, by an adult with harshness or gentleness and it does make a difference in the child's life.

NATE:

I like thinking about the concept of One being, but if its foundation is not on the moment to moment observations and practicalities of our experience, then what does One being really mean?

GARY:

We agree.

NATE:

Einstein may have been speaking scientifically - that chemically, the whole universe is an interconnected web of stuff constantly mixing together and changing, and human existence is just a part of that web. Now, in line more with a more spiritual/experiential understanding of One Being, I believe that our individual mind is one with the universal mind of action, in the same way that a pebble dropped into a lake makes ripples. But I understand that not to be a realization that takes me out of my body and mind, but rather engrosses me more in it. If my nature is as a pebble and my fate is to make a ripple, then moment to moment action is the seed and substance of that ripple.

GARY:

I agree in the sense that O.B. consciousness engages me more in the body/mind rather than takes me out of it. I feel more attuned to my body's inner wisdom and have been led, e.g., by stretching instructions which come from that inner voice. As O.B., all we who exist are the pebble, the water, and the ripple.

Whenever 'external' (actually there is no external or internal) stimuli hits me a certain way and I react or contract — I say or think with feeling, 'We are One Being' and the effect of the stimuli is softened. Would you be willing to experiment with this?
