Today's post consists of conversations with Greg, in which his questions and comments stimulated me to write about PMM as a practice. We met in the Practical Metaphysics discussion group, in a thread about manifestation. Greg I see that you are big on letting higher wisdom/God/universe do the "job" of picking what's right for one in their manifestation. I can stand behind this truth, as I mentioned the notion that I might not know what is best for me appeals to me. On some other, worldly and materialistic level I can't seem to get rid of the feeling of wasted potential (that I might be doing something more useful, helpful) and material lack. I know it might be a question of karma, past lives, soul contracts or any concepts we (or I for one) have no idea about. I've had my share of hardships and being an empathetic person I cry at the fate of ones having much worse fate than mine and try to be thankful for what I have, but still can't shake the feeling that there could be more. Especially now that I'm getting almost fully rid of a decade long anxiety/headache problems that nothing all those years could help me with, I think of the time and opportunities lost and know that people look at me as an unemployed going on 40 guy. Is it that bad that I'd like to show the world what I'm made of? Gary Thank you for writing in an honest and vulnerable way. You may have seen my 'umbrella statement' on Whole Human: 'All statements, including this one, are from a partial and incomplete perspective.' It seems clear that observing from a distance generally gives a more complete perspective, a view of the larger picture. If the larger view can also zoom in to observe the minute details, there is no doubt in my mind that it is preferable to operating from a partial and incomplete understanding - of anything. Many do not pause long enough to gain a more complete perspective. Or their rigid mindsets do not allow for integrating another views. Certainly most of the experiences of my life which left me with a 'feeling of wasted potential (that I might be doing something more useful, helpful)' were due to my operating from an incomplete perspective. To me, consciousness is at the foundation of everything, and much can be understood as a spectrum of frequencies and perspectives. I have a more complete perspective as an adult than I did as a child, and my perspective changes daily from gaining new experiences and understanding. I avoid using terms like Higher Self, or Greater Self, because they imply a linear hierarchy. It feels more universal, useful and judgment-free, to think in terms of partial and more complete perspectives in consciousness. In all my thought and actions, I seek a more complete perspective, always by intention, and often by working directly with my prejudices and misinterpretations. Affirmations don't do much by themselves, they are little more than wishful thinking. To really effect changes in me, such as operating consistently from the most complete perspective possible, requires re-patterning myself in a determined, dedicated way. For this, the Present Moment Movements have been the most effective and beneficial means I have found, over a lifetime of exploration and experimentation in the 'personal development' and 'spiritual evolution' fields. One suggestion, to start off with, is to keep a journal of your experiences with the Present Moment Movements. You can share your journal entries with me, or not, as you feel. As the PMM have been revised more than 150 times to date, and revisions have slowed yet continue, there is not a better time to jump into the stream than Now. Just be prepared to update, not with every new revision, but occasionally. Greg Thank you for you insight Gary, that clarifies some things for me. I will be trying to go through your process and let you know of my experience as diligently as I can. Is there anything I can expect or look for specifically? More mentally or rather in the tangible realm? Gary Based on my experience, Greg, the movements have become an hour of utter bliss and delight, bathing in who and what I really am. Of course, they are written in my peculiar language, and I have experienced them as they progressed through all the revisions, from the original tradition to what they are today. My body always experiences relief, to stretch and release tension. My mind goes more deeply into the realness of the visualizations, as I accept them as being real and effectual. Others have seen significant changes in the way I meet the world.... Had an interesting experience with the visualization yesterday, where the jewel of desire is handed, in Movement Three. When I breathed into my cupped hands, the word, 'tourmaline' came clearly to me. I have no previous connection with tourmaline. Later, when I checked email, there was one marked as Junk. I opened, and the ad was for tourmaline! That convinced me to order tourmaline, which I learned is said to have metaphysical properties. Greg Very interesting. This shows that something is whispering from behind the veil. When it comes to my anxiety that I mentioned, I recently found out that I have severe sleep apnea which were the main culprit of my problems for years since suffocating over a hundred times every night puts a toll on your body and hormones. Now that I’ve implemented some techniques I am doing much better and keep walking around feeling like myself again, feeling like anything is possible and good things are ahead. Just a mere fact of feeling normal, compared to feeling tense and anxious all those years puts me in a great state of gratitude. Gary Wonderful! Glad to know. The anxiety and tenseness I have experienced most of my 66 years is more deeply rooted in some interesting neurological anomalies. I have recently realized I am on the autism spectrum. The other anomaly is more rare, and didn't even have a medical name until about ten years ago. It is called misophonia, and MRI studies have shown that the brains of people with it have more 'insulation.' I am also grateful for many things, and now especially for the flowering of the PMM. It has helped me tremendously in many ways, including improvements in the anxiety and ability to manage the automatic reactions of my nervous system. One thing to consider when following the voice prompts is there is no right or wrong way to do the movements. It is about experiencing who you really are, trusting your inner wisdom, and being moved by your Chi energies or the One Light, as you choose. It is not about technique, form, or being correct. Improvements ~ such as smoother movements, experiencing your soul/the Divine more deeply, and being in the Flow ~ come naturally with continued practice. Although there are added benefits from practicing the set as a whole, movements can also be practiced individually. The revision I uploaded today (version 15.6) includes two new self-guided visualizations which standalone beautifully. Slideshow of images collected from the internet this week... Albert Camus
“We used to wonder where war lived, what it was that made it so vile. And now we realize that we know where it lives, that it is inside ourselves.” - Albert Camus Albert Einstein "A human being is a part of a whole, called by us 'universe', a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." - Albert Einstein "Every kind of peaceful cooperation among men is primarily based on mutual trust and only secondarily on institutions such as courts of justice and police." - Albert Einstein "Human beings can attain a worthy and harmonious life only if they are able to rid themselves, within the limits of human nature, of the striving for the wish fulfillment of material kinds. The goal is to raise the spiritual values of society." - Albert Einstein "I am content in my later years. I have kept my good humor and take neither myself nor the next person seriously." - Albert Einstein "My pacifism is an instinctive feeling, a feeling that possesses me because the murder of people is disgusting. My attitude is not derived from any intellectual theory but is based on my deepest antipathy to every kind of cruelty and hatred." - Albert Einstein "Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding." - Albert Einstein "The life of the individual has meaning only insofar as it aids in making the life of every living thing nobler and more beautiful. Life is sacred, that is to say, it is the supreme value, to which all other values are subordinate." - Albert Einstein "The release of atom power has changed everything except our way of thinking...the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind. If only I had known, I should have become a watchmaker." - Albert Einstein "There are two ways to live your life - one is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is a miracle." - Albert Einstein “Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction.” - Albert Einstein “The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it.” - Albert Einstein Amelia Earhart "Courage is the price that Life exacts for granting peace." - Amelia Earhart Anne Frank "It’s utterly impossible for me to build my life on a foundation of chaos, suffering and death. I see the world being slowly transformed into a wilderness, I hear the approaching thunder that, one day, will destroy us too, I feel the suffering of millions. And yet, when I look up at the sky, I somehow feel that everything will change for the better; that this cruelty too shall end, that peace and tranquility will return once more." - Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, July 15, 1944 American Proverb "A harvest of peace is produced from a seed of contentment." - American Proverb Aesop "A crust eaten in peace is better than a banquet partaken in anxiety." - Aesop, The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse Author Unknown "If you begin the day with love in your heart, peace in your nerves, and truth in your mind, you not only benefit by their presence but also bring them to others, to your family and friends, and to all those whose destiny draws across your path that day." – Author Unknown "Peace won by the compromise of principles is a short-lived achievement." - Author Unknown Buddha "All that we are is the result of what we have thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him." - Buddha "All things appear and disappear because of the concurrence of causes and conditions. Nothing ever exists entirely alone; everything is in relation to everything else." - Buddha "An idea that is developed and put into action is more important than an idea that exists only as an idea." - Buddha "Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense." - Buddha "Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace." - Buddha "Chaos is inherent in all compounded things. Strive on with diligence." - Buddha "Even death is not to be feared by one who has lived wisely." - Buddha "Every human being is the author of his own health or disease." - Buddha "Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love; this is the eternal rule." - Buddha "He is able who thinks he is able." - Buddha "He who experiences the unity of life sees his own Self in all beings, and all beings in his own Self, and looks on everything with an impartial eye." - Buddha "However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you if you do not act on upon them?" - Buddha "I do not believe in a fate that falls on men however they act; but I do believe in a fate that falls on them unless they act." - Buddha "In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves." - Buddha "In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west; people create distinctions out of their own minds and then believe them to be true." - Buddha "It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell." - Buddha "Just as a candle cannot burn without fire, men cannot live without a spiritual life." - Buddha "Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom appears from a pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue." - Buddha "On life's journey faith is nourishment, virtuous deeds are a shelter, wisdom is the light by day and right mindfulness is the protection by night. If a man lives a pure life, nothing can destroy him." - Buddha "Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without." - Buddha "Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity." - Buddha "The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, nor to worry about the future, but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly." - Buddha "The virtues, like the Muses, are always seen in groups. A good principle was never found solitary in any breast." - Buddha "The way is not in the sky. The way is in the heart." - Buddha "The world, indeed, is like a dream and the treasures of the world are an alluring mirage! Like the apparent distances in a picture, things have no reality in themselves, but they are like heat haze." - Buddha "Those who are free of resentful thoughts surely find peace." - Buddha "Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared." - Buddha "To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one's family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one's own mind. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection." - Buddha "You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger." - Buddha "Your work is to discover your work and then with all your heart to give yourself to it." - Buddha “A family is a place where minds come in contact with one another. If these minds love one another the home will be as beautiful as a flower garden. But if these minds get out of harmony with one another it is like a storm that plays havoc with the garden.” - Buddha Black Elk "The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes from within the souls of men when they realize their relationship, their oneness, with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells the Sacred, and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us. This is the real peace, and the others are but reflections of this. The second peace is that which is made between two individuals, and the third is that which is made between two nations. But above all you should understand that there can never be peace between nations until there is first known that true peace which is within the souls of men." - Black Elk Benjamin Franklin "He that would live in peace and at ease, must not speak all he knows nor judge all he sees." - Benjamin Franklin "There never was a good war or bad peace." - Benjamin Franklin Bhagavad Gita "Better indeed is knowledge than mechanical practice. Eisenhower "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed." - Dwight D. Eisenhower "I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it." - Dwight D. Eisenhower "On that day let us solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly, on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom, and let us re-consecrate ourselves to the task of promoting an enduring peace so that all their efforts shall not have been in vain." - Dwight D. Eisenhower "Though force can protect in emergency, only justice, fairness, consideration and co-operation can finally lead men to the dawn of eternal peace." - Dwight D. Eisenhower "We merely want to live in peace with all the world, to trade with them, to commune with them, to learn from their culture as they may learn from ours, so that the products of our toil may be used for our schools and our roads and our churches and not for guns and planes and tanks and ships of war." - Dwight D. Eisenhower Darren John Main "As I have practiced yoga in the quest for inner peace I have found that my spiritual practice doesn't end when I leave the yoga mat. That is the beginning. While having a time of quiet each day is essential for our spiritual health, it is what we do in the world that propels us forward as individuals and as a society." - Darren John Main, Yoga and the Path of the Urban Mystic Dalai Lama “Whether one believes in a religion or not, and whether one believes in rebirth or not, there isn't anyone who doesn't appreciate kindness and compassion.” - Dalai Lama “With realization of one's own potential and self-confidence in one's ability, one can build a better world.” - Dalai Lama "Compassion and love are not mere luxuries. As the source of both inner and external peace, they are fundamental to the continued survival of our species." - Dalai Lama "I believe all suffering is caused by ignorance. People inflict pain on others in the selfish pursuit of their happiness or satisfaction. Yet true happiness comes from a sense of peace and contentment, which in turn must be achieved through the cultivation of altruism, of love and compassion, and elimination of ignorance, selfishness, and greed." - Dalai Lama "It is essential to know that to be a happy person, a happy family, a happy society, it is very crucial to have a good heart; that is very crucial. World peace must develop from inner peace. Peace is not just the absence of violence but the manifestation of human compassion." - Dalai Lama "No matter what part of the world we come from, we are all basically the same human beings." - Dalai Lama of Tibet (Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech) “Be kind whenever possible. As a rule, we always talk about reform and changes. Among the old traditions, there are many aspects that are either ill-suited to our present reality or are counterproductive due to their shortsightedness. These, we have consigned to the dustbin of history. War too should be relegated to the dustbin of history.” - Dalai Lama “We can live without religion and meditation, but we cannot survive without human affection.” - Dalai Lama “We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.” - Dalai Lama “Where ignorance is our master, there is no possibility of real peace.” - Dalai Lama Doris Mortman "Until you make peace with who you are, you'll never be content with what you have." - Doris Mortman Dorothy Thompson "Peace has to be created, in order to be maintained. We will not learn how to live together in peace by killing each other's children." - Jimmy Carter JFD: "The world will never have lasting peace so long as men reserve for war the finest human qualities. Peace, no less than war, requires idealism and self-sacrifice and a righteous and dynamic faith." - John Foster Dulles JFK: "But peace does not rest in the charters and covenants alone. It lies in the hearts and minds of all people. So let us not rest all our hopes on parchment and on paper, let us strive to build peace, a desire for peace, a willingness to work for peace in the hearts and minds of all of our people. I believe that we can. I believe the problems of human destiny are not beyond the reach of human beings." - John F. Kennedy (1917 - 1963) JFK: "Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures." - John F. Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will be as one." - John Lennon JL: “A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.” - John Lennon JL: “All we are saying is give peace a chance.” - John Lennon JL: “I don't believe in killing whatever the reason!” - John Lennon JL: “If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliché that must have been left behind in the Sixties, that's his problem. Love and peace are eternal.” - John Lennon JL: “Love is the answer, and you know that for sure; Love is a flower, you've got to let it grow.” - John Lennon JL: “My role in society, or any artist's or poet's role, is to try and express what we all feel. Not to tell people how to feel. Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all.” - John Lennon JL: “The basic thing nobody asks is why do people take drugs of any sort? Why do we have these accessories to normal living to live? I mean, is there something wrong with society that's making us so pressurized, that we cannot live without guarding ourselves against it?” - John Lennon JL: “The thing the sixties did was to show us the possibilities and the responsibility that we all had. It wasn't the answer. It just gave us a glimpse of the possibility.” - John Lennon JL: “The worst drugs are as bad as anybody's told you. It's just a dumb trip, which I can't condemn people if they get into it, because one gets into it for one's own personal, social, emotional reasons. It's something to be avoided if one can help it.” - John Lennon JL: “We've got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can't just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it's going to get on by itself. You've got to keep watering it. Waste no time and effort searching for peace and contentment and joy in the world outside. Remember that there is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving. Reach out. Share. Smile. Hug. Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself." - Og Mandino (1923 - 1996) OS: “A turning point is coming closer every day; you have to be prepared for it. Sannyas has to become a herald for a new world, the first ray of the dawn.” - Osho: The Guest OS: “All beings are from the very beginning Buddhas. It is like water and ice: Apart from water, no ice, outside living beings, no Buddhas. Not knowing it is near they seek it afar, what a pity!” – Osho OS: “All that this world needs is a good cleansing of the heart of all the inhibitions of the past. And laughter and tears can do both. Tears will take out all the agony that is hidden inside you and laughter will take all that is preventing your ecstasy. Once you have learned the art you will be immensely surprised.” – Osho OS: “All that you need is just to be silent and listen to existence. There is no need of any religion, there is no need of any God, there is no need of any priesthood, there is no need of any organization.” OS: “All the Buddhas of all the ages have been telling you a very simple fact: Be – don't try to become. Within these two words, be and becoming, your whole life is contained. And that makes you more human, more compassionate, more understanding.” – Osho OS: “Become more and more innocent, less knowledgeable and more childlike. Take life as fun - because that's precisely what it is!” – Osho OS: “Bliss is a strange wine - strange because on one hand it makes you fully aware, and on other hand, it makes you fully intoxicated - intoxicated with the divine, fully aware in your being.... Blissfulness is our birthright. We just have to claim it. And meditation is our claim.” - Osho, The Sound of one Hand Clapping OS: “Bliss is the Everest. There is nothing higher than that. And unless you reach the Everest of bliss you have not fulfilled your mission in life, your destiny in life...” – Osho OS: “Do you think the people who were trying to reach to the Everest were not full of doubts? For a hundred years, how many people tried and how many people have lost their lives? Do you know how many people never came back? Not even their dead bodies came back; they got lost, lost forever. But, still, a few courageous people went on and on..... But people went on coming from all over the world, risking, knowing that they may not come back ever, they may be lost. But it is worth it – because in the very risk something is born inside you: the center. It is born only in the risk. That's the beauty of risk, the gift of risk.” – Osho OS: “Drop guilt! – because to be guilty is to live in hell. Not being guilty, you will have the freshness of dewdrops in the early morning sun, you will have the freshness of lotus petals in the lake, you will have the freshness of the stars in the night. Once guilt disappears you will have a totally different kind of life, luminous and radiant. You will have a dance to your feet and your heart will be singing a thousand and one songs.” – Osho OS: “Drop the fear. Fear was taken up by you in your childhood, unconsciously. Now consciously drop it and be mature. Then life can be a light which goes on deepening as you go on growing.” - Osho OS: “Ecstasy is our very nature; not to be ecstatic is simply unnecessary. To be ecstatic is natural, spontaneous. It needs no effort to be ecstatic, it needs great effort to be miserable. That's why you look to tired, because misery is really hard work; to maintain it is really difficult, because you are doing something against nature.” – Osho OS: “Existence is not a problem to be solved, it is a mystery to be lived. And you should be perfectly aware what the difference is between a mystery and a problem. A problem is something created by the mind; a mystery is something which is there, not created by the mind. A problem has an ugliness in it, like disease. A mystery is beautiful. With a problem, immediately a fight arises. You have to solve it; something is wrong, you have to put it right; something is missing, you have to supply the missing link. With a mystery there is no question like that. The moon arises in the night.... It is not a problem, it is a mystery. You have to live with it. You have to dance with it. You have to sing with it, or you can be just silent with it. Something mysterious surrounds you.” – Osho OS: “Experience life in all possible ways – good-bad, bitter-sweet, dark-light, summer-winter. Experience all the dualities. Don't be afraid of experience, because the more experience you have, the more mature you become.” – Osho OS: “Falling in love you remain a child; rising in love you mature. By and by love becomes not a relationship, it becomes a state of your being. Not that you are in love - now you are love.” – Osho OS: “I have seen lovers promising each other that they will love each other forever and forever. And not knowing anything about the next moment!.... If they are a little alert, they will say: “It feels in this moment, it is a truth of this moment.... That is why lovers always prove to be deceivers to each other. In the end they think they have been cheated. They have both promised things which they cannot deliver.” – Osho OS: “If the mind wants to comprehend reality, it will have to come out of the past and the future. But coming out of the past and the future, it is no longer the mind at all. Hence the insistence of all the great masters of the world, that the door to reality is no-mind.” - Osho OS: “If the whole existence is one, and if the existence goes on taking care of trees, of animals, of mountains, of oceans – from the smallest blade of grass to the biggest star – then it will take care of you too. Why be possessive? The possessiveness shows simply one thing - that you cannot trust existence. You have to arrange separate security for yourself, safety for yourself; you cannot trust existence. Non-possessiveness is basically trust in existence. There is no need to possess, because the whole is already ours.” – Osho OS: “If you are absolutely without mind, just pure consciousness, time stops completely, disappears, leaving no trace behind.” – Osho OS: “If you take the responsibility for your life you can start changing it. Slow will be the change, only in the course of time will you start; moving into the world of light and crystallization, but once you are crystallized you will know what real revolution is. Then share your revolution with others; it has to go that way, from heart to heart.” – Osho OS: “In this world the greatest courage is to drop the mind aside. The bravest man is who can see the world without the barrier of the mind, just as it is. It is tremendously different, utterly beautiful. There is nobody who is inferior and there is nobody who is superior -- there are no distinctions.” – Osho OS: “India is not a country but a mystery. A mystery of a rising lotus as chaste as the morning dew, delicate and sublime. India is the immanent and the transcendental manifested simultaneously leaving deep feelings of wonder and amazement, just as those experienced by a child. So distant and high as the Himalayas and as close and as near as our breath, ethereal like the rainbow and yet so real and alive." – Osho OS: “India is not a piece of land or some political entity or a part of some historical facts. It is not a mad race for money, power, position and prestige. India is a longing, a thirst to attain truth - the truth that resides in every heartbeat of ours, the truth that is lying asleep under the layer of our consciousness, the truth that is ours but yet forgotten. Its remembrance, its reclamation, is India.” – Osho OS: “India my Love I would like to give you two things: Roots into this earth and wings into the heaven. Meditation is the earth, it is here and now; the very moment you can spread your roots, do it. And once roots are there, your wings will reach the highest sky possible. Compassion is the sky, meditation is the earth, and when meditation and compassion meet, a Buddha is born. – Osho OS: “Intelligence is a natural phenomenon – just as breathing is, just as seeing is. Intelligence is the inner seeing; it is intuitive. It has nothing to do with intellect. Never confuse intellect with intelligence, they are polar opposites. Intellect is of the head; it is taught by others, it is imposed on you. You have to cultivate it. It is borrowed, it is something foreign, it is not inborn. But intelligence is inborn. It is your very being, your very nature.” – Osho OS: “It is a great opportunity that is knocking on your doors. Humanity as a whole has come to a certain point of growth from which a quantum leap is possible.” - Osho: Walking in Zen, Sitting in Zen OS: “Just one quality of the Buddha has to be remembered. He consists only of one quality: witnessing. This small word witnessing contains the whole of spirituality. Witness that you are not the body. Witness that you are not the mind. Witness that you are only a witness. As the witnessing deepens, you start becoming drunk with the divine. That is what is called ecstasy.” - Osho OS: “Knowing the whole world is nothing when it is compared to knowing your own inner mystery of life.” – Osho OS: “Life is not a tragedy, it is a comedy. To be alive means to have a sense of humor.” – Osho OS: “Look at Nature: In Nature the colors flow afresh every day, new flowers bloom each morning. Even before the old leaves have fallen, the new buds burst and new shoots spring up. The festival goes on. Such is the life of a religious person. He will be festive each moment and grateful that he is. His every breath is an expression of gratitude and benediction.” – Osho OS: “Looking at a sunset, just for a second you forget your separateness: you are the sunset. That is the moment when you feel the beauty of it. But the moment you say that it is a beautiful sunset, you are no longer feeling it; you have come back to your separate, enclosed entity of the ego. Now the mind is speaking. And this is one of the mysteries, that the mind can speak, and knows nothing; and the heart knows everything, and cannot speak. Perhaps to know too much makes it difficult to speak; the mind knows so little, it is possible for it to speak.” – Osho OS: “Man has lost one quality, the quality of zestfulness. And without zest, what is life? Just waiting for death? It can't be anything else. Only with zest do you live; otherwise you vegetate.” – Osho OS: “Man has to be absolutely empty, only then is the space created for God to descend in him. And we are so full of rubbish, so full of junk; even if God wants to enter he will not find any place inside. Our cups are full... We have to empty the cup completely.” – Osho OS: “Meditation is not something that you do. It is, only when your doer has gone and you are totally relaxed and not doing anything, in a deep state of let-go, rest - there is meditation. Then meditation flowers. It is the flowering of your being. It has nothing to do with becoming. It is not an achievement, it is not an improvement; it is just being that which you already are.” – Osho OS: “Millions of people are suffering: they want to be loved but they don't know how to love. And love cannot exist as a monologue; it is a dialogue, a very harmonious dialogue.” – Osho OS: “Mind can accept any boundary anywhere. But the reality is that, by its very nature, existence cannot have any boundary, because what will be beyond the boundary - again another sky. That's why I'm saying skies upon skies are available for your flight. Don't be content easily. Those who remain content easily remain small: small are their joys, small are their ecstasies, small are their silences, small is their being. But there is no need! This smallness is your own imposition upon your freedom, upon your unlimited possibilities, upon your unlimited potential.” – Osho OS: “Mind functions in an 'either/or' way: either this can be right or its opposite can be right. Both together cannot be right – as far as mind, its logic, its rationality is concerned. If mind is 'either/or' then the heart is 'both/and.' The heart has no logic, but a sensitivity, a perceptivity. It can see that they both can not only be together, in fact they are not two. It is just one phenomenon seen from two different aspects.” – Osho OS: “Mind is repetitive, mind always moves in circles. Mind is a mechanism: you feed it with knowledge, it repeats the same knowledge, it goes on chewing the same knowledge again and again. No-mind is clarity, purity, innocence. No-mind is the real way to live, the real way to know, the real way to be.” - Osho OS: “Misery nourishes your ego – that's why you see so many miserable people in the world. The basic, central point is the ego.” – Osho OS: “No dead principles can help, but only living consciousness. Be absolutely unprincipled and just follow life.” – Osho OS: “Power is dangerous without meditation. Any kind of power is bound to become destructive if there is no meditation involved in it. Lord Acton’s famous statement is basically true, that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, because power means energy. What is one going to do with energy if one has not the understanding to use it rightly, if one has not the perspective to see clearly where to go, what to do, what not to do? Then power gives a certain intoxication. The unconscious person becomes even more unconscious, the mad person becomes even more mad. Latest researchers into psychiatry have come to a very significant conclusion: that many people who are insane are really insane because they have so much power that it is beyond their control. They cannot cope with it. Basically they are not bad people, not evil, but their power is like a sword, a naked sword in the hands of a child. What is the child going to do with a sword? Either he will harm somebody or he will harm himself; hence power either becomes murderous or it becomes suicidal. These are the only two possibilities without meditation. But once meditation becomes the foundation, then power is creative, then it brings great poetry and great music and great dance in your life. And not only in just your life; it starts overflowing you, it starts reaching others.” - Osho in: The Old Pond - Plop! OS: “Remain in wonder if you want the mysteries to open up for you. Mysteries never open up for those who go on questioning. Questioners sooner or later end up in a library. Questioners sooner or later end up with scriptures, because scriptures are full of answers. And answers are dangerous, they kill your wonder.” – Osho OS: “Remember one thing: meditation means awareness. Whatsoever you do with awareness is meditation. Action is not the question, but the quality that you bring to your action. Walking can be a meditation if you walk alertly. Sitting can be a meditation if you sit alertly. Listening to the birds can be a meditation if you listen with awareness. Just listening to the inner noise of your mind can be a meditation if you remain alert and watchful. The whole point is: one should not move in sleep. Then whatsoever you do is meditation.” – Osho, The Search OS: “Remember, meditation will bring you more and more intelligence, infinite intelligence, a radiant intelligence. Meditation will make you more alert and sensitive. Your life will become richer." – Osho OS: “Seriousness is a sickness; your sense of humor makes you more human, more humble. The sense of humor – according to me – is one of the most essential parts of religiousness.” – Osho OS: “The beauty of facing life unprepared is tremendous. Then life has a newness, a youth; then life has a flow and freshness. Then life has so many surprises. And when life has so many surprises boredom never settles in you.” – Osho OS: “The days of the Upanishads in this land were the most glorious. The only search, the only seeking, the only longing, was to know oneself - no other ambition ruled mankind. Riches, success, power, everything was absolutely mundane. Those who were ambitious, those who were running after riches, those who wanted to be powerful were considered to be psychologically sick. And those who were really healthy psychologically, spiritually healthy, their only search was to know oneself and to be oneself and to declare to the whole universe the innermost secret. That secret is contained in this statement, 'Aham Brahmasmi.’” – Osho OS: “The heart knows nothing of the past, nothing of the future; it knows only of the present. The heart has no time concept.” – Osho OS: “The lotus flower has been very symbolic to the East, because the East says you should live in the world but remain untouched by it. You should remain in the world, but the world should not remain in you. You should pass through the world without carrying any impression, any impact, any scratch. If by the time of death you can say that your consciousness is as pure, as innocent as you have brought with you at birth, you have lived a religious life, a spiritual life. The lotus flower grows from the mud in the water, and yet remains untouched. And it is a symbol of transformation.” – Osho OS: “The mind exists in time, in fact the mind is time; it exists in the past and the future. And remember, time consists of only two tenses, the past and the future. The present is not part of time, the present is part of eternity.” – Osho OS: “The 'truth' is only a way of speaking; there is not something labeled 'Truth,' that one day you will find and open the box and see the contents and say, 'Great! I have found the truth.' There is no such box. Your existence is the truth, and when you are silent you are in truth. And if the silence is absolute then you are the ultimate truth. But don't think of the truth as an object – it is not an object. It is not there, it is here.” – Osho OS: “The whole world is a cyclone. But once you have found the center the cyclone disappears. This nothingness is the ultimate peak of consciousness.” – Osho OS: “The will to power and to dominate arises only in the sick mind. It arises out of the inferiority complex. People who are not suffering from an inferiority complex do not care about power; their whole endeavor is for peace, because the meaning of life can be known only in peace - power is not the way.” – Osho OS: “The witnessing soul is like the sky. The birds fly in the sky but they don't leave any footprints. That's what Buddha says, that the man who is awakened lives in such a way that he leaves no footprints. He is without wounds and without scars; he never looks back – there is no point. He has lived that moment so totally that what is the need to look back again and again? He never looks ahead, he never looks back, he lives in the moment.” – Osho OS: “There is no evil and there are no evil forces in the world. There are only people of awareness, and there are people who are fast asleep – and sleep has no force. The whole energy is in the hands of the awakened people. And one awakened person can awaken the whole world. One lighted candle can make millions of candles lighted without losing it's light.” – Osho OS: “To be alone in the only real revolution. To accept that you are alone is the greatest transformation that can happen to you.” – Osho OS: “To be creative means to be in love with life. You can be creative only if you love life enough that you want to enhance its beauty, you want to bring a little more music to it, a little more poetry to it, a little more dance to it.” – Osho OS: “Truth cannot be defined, although it can certainly be experienced. But experience is not a definition. A definition is made by the mind, experience comes through participating. If somebody asks, "What is a dance?" how can you define it? But you can dance and you can know the inner feel of it. God is the ultimate dance.” – Osho OS: “What is money and why are most people deeply uncomfortable about it in one way or another? It is a touchy question, because money is not what it appears. Money is more deeply rooted. Money is not just outside in the currency notes, it is something to do with your inner mind and attitudes. Money is your escape from persons, money is your security against death, money is your effort to control life, money is a thousand and one things. Money is not just in the currency notes otherwise things would have been very easy....” – Osho, Tao, The Three Treasures OS: “What is needed is not something in which you can forget your loneliness; what is needed is that you become aware of your aloneness - which is a reality. And it is so beautiful to experience it, to feel it, because it is your freedom from the crowd, from the other. It is your freedom from the fear of being lonely.” – Osho OS: “When power is gentle, it has a beauty; then it is nothing but the power of love. In other words it is no more power, it is simply gentleness. It is in this context that Jesus’ statement can be rightly understood: Blessed are the meek for theirs is the kingdom of God.” – Osho OS: “When you try to possess, your power becomes invested in meaningless things. When you desire, your power becomes desire and desires are infinite. Each desire becomes a leakage of your power. When all possessiveness and all desires have been understood as futile, and dropped, you become a reservoir of power. And to be a reservoir of power is the only experience that gives you the feeling that God is - because God is power. When you also experience power within yourself, overflowing, abundant power, you know God is. If you are empty, with no power, tired, wasted in your desires, no proof that God exists can help you. The real person needs no proof for God. He comes to know God from the experience of inner power, from his inner glow.” - Osho in: The Book of the Books, Vol. XII OS: “You are a Buddha. But remember you are not a Buddha in any special sense. Everybody is - So don't take it in an egoistic sense that "I" am a Buddha. Don't make it ambitious, don't go on an ambition trip. All is Buddha. Life is Buddha, being is Buddha-hood, existence is Buddha-hood.” - Osho OS: “You can go on changing the outer for lives and you will never be satisfied; something or other will remain to be changed. Unless the inner changes, the outer can never be perfect.” – Osho OS: “You will need civilization, culture, education, but don't get identified with them. They are games. One can play them because one has to live in society... Watch so that you don't get identified with them, and whenever they are not needed be natural.” – Osho OS: “Your innermost core has always been pure. Purity is intrinsic to you, it cannot be taken away. Your virginity is eternal. You cannot lose it, there is no way to lose it. You can only forget about it or you can remember it. If you forget about it, you live in confusion. If you remember about it, all is clear.” - Osho OS: The heart is always right – if there's a question of choosing between the mind and the heart – because mind is a creation of the society. It has been educated. You have been given it by the society, not by existence. The heart is unpolluted.” – Osho OW: "I define joy as a sustained sense of well-being and internal peace - a connection to what matters." - Oprah Winfrey, O Magazine PH: "Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains or slavery? This is the real peace, and the others are but reflections of this. The second peace is that which is made between two individuals, and the third is that which is made between two nations. But above all you should understand that there can never be peace between nations until there is first known that true peace which is within the souls of men." - Black Elk Benjamin Franklin "He that would live in peace and at ease, must not speak all he knows nor judge all he sees." - Benjamin Franklin "There never was a good war or bad peace." - Benjamin Franklin Bhagavad Gita "Better indeed is knowledge than mechanical practice.
