Dust on the Mirror
Take a good look around. Find your bearings. We have discussed the nature and character of that elusive thing we are trying to Reverse Engineer . . . The Human Soul. Today it's time to take a walk into the heart of the machine itself, and see what we can see. ~ Ken Matsushima
Reverse Engineering the Soul
Comment by Gary -
'Yes, the soul has been elusive.... because people have looked in all the 'wrong' places, where it won't be found. I experience my soul vividly every time I do the Qigong set, Present Moment Movements. The soul is most intimately who and what I am, experienced in the set as a column of light energy from the perineum to the pineal gland, called the centerline, and a sphere of light filling and surrounding the body.'

Gary -- different people experience Holistic Consciousness in different ways. Ive certainly felt the power flowing within (as you describe) when I do Tai Chi. But it is when I simply sit and experience myself as "the witness of everything" (and ignore the little voices and sensations) that I feel it most powerfully.
If there is one thing my search has taught me, it is to respect and seek to learn from the spiritual experiences of everyone I meet. Each new insight expands the breadth of my own understanding.
"And so the process continues - each new stream and rivulet adding itself to the vast flood -- until finally, it reaches the ocean, where all mingle to become the One..."
Ken Matsushima ~ can we experience ourselves as 'the witness of everything' (which I include as an aspect of the Present Moment); and feel the power flowing within, in every minute of our lives, without sitting or doing Tai Chi?
That is the potential of the Void, the Sphere, and the Centerline, integrated in the Present Moment Movements.
What I have learned in the process of re-writing the Movements 138 times, is that with each revision the experience uncovered new layers, and went deeper into the Soul. At Version 6.5, I 'thought' it was complete, and there would be no more revisions. Even wrote that on the Whole Human site. But it was not even halfway to the depths now reached. Why stop at any point, when it is a never-ending story? Still, I have written the Movements for my own practice not compromised by trying to please others. I understand my approach will not be for everyone.
How would you like to exit at the end of this lifetime as a fully conscious and autonomous soul? No tunnels, no escorts, no judges. Of course, it is theory, as I have not yet experienced it in practice! But, I am emboldened to say my true feeling is that it is possible with the Present Moment Movements practice.
In 1971, as a high school senior, I wrote a prose titled 'The Universe is You,' which includes the lines,
'Traveling along the myriad roads
so many lead to nowhere
the happiness they bring
is there and gone
after reaching the highest point
one may go no further.
But the Joy of being
One with the Universe
knows no limits,
for the Universe is without limit.'
Agreed, our unique experiences and approaches can mingle as streams into the greater Sea. Thank you.
