The Trust Technique - Part Two
+ Meditation Techniques and Benefits
Description
The Trust Technique cultivates felt connection with oneself and others (including animals) by reducing thinking and sharing the present moment. It is based on the theory that deepening the connection between humans and animals can transform the lives of both (please see the previous post).
Gary's Observations and Notes from 'The Trust Technique' Course (Continued from the Previous Post)
There is a depth of meaning in these notes that will be realized by reading closely. Explanation is given on the website, and questions are welcomed.
• There's a big difference between thoughts and thinking. Thinking is processing and produces feeling (emotions).
• There is a gap between how people say they feel about animals and how they treat them.
• Thoughts are like bubbles floating through which can be acknowledged and dismissed.
• Trust and connection are cultivated by being deeply peaceful, and delivering that peace with focused presence.
• We create a feeling of trust in ourselves, and then share it with others.
• We need a wiser understanding that values trust over fear motivation.
• Whereas, when we're peaceful, it creates actions that do not contain fear. This makes a much stronger and more authentic learning environment.
• Working at another being's pace is compassion.
• Your mind is down, and you are leading into a peaceful state where you can feel each other.
There are innumerable teacings, trainings, tools and techniques for personal development, raising A.Q., E.Q. etc. On just one branch of that tree, there are hundreds if not thousands of different types of meditation. My story of using techniques began in the sixties, when as editor of the high school literary magazine I contacted T. Lobsang Rampa's publisher asking permission to reprint excerpts.
The publisher forwarded my request to Rampa (the author of 'The Third Eye') and he and I corresponded over a period of years. I experimented with the tips he provided. Rampa didn't like biofeedback, but eventually I also tested several types of that as well, including HeartMath, EquiSync and various light and sound devices (and 'plant medicine'.) These are some main categories of meditation types:
1) BUDDHIST MEDITATION TECHNIQUES
• Zen Meditation (Zazen)
• Vipassana Meditation
• Mindfulness Meditation
• Loving Kindness Meditation (Metta Meditation)
2) HINDU MEDITATION TECHNIQUES (Vedic & Yogic)
• Mantra Meditation (OM Meditation)
• Transcendental Meditation (TM)
• Yogic Meditations
• Self-Enquiry and “I Am” Meditation
3) CHINESE MEDITATION TECHNIQUES
• Taoist Meditations
• Qigong (Chi kung)
4) CHRISTIAN MEDITATION
5) SUFI MEDITATION TECHNIQUES
6) GUIDED MEDITATIONS
Potential benefits of meditation:
→ Transcend the effects of stress
→ Use your "whole brain:" boost learning ability, memory, & concentration
→ Feel more happy, confident, inspired, and focused
→ Reach the highest levels of consciousness
→ Live more and more of your life in a state of flow
→ Quiet your mind while increasing thought depth & clarity
→ Explore and expand your self-awareness: ascend to self-mastery
→ Fortify your physical health while boosting longevity
→ Access your vast supply of subconscious mind power
→ Overcome self-limiting beliefs, habits, phobias, & fears
→ Improve sleep, effectively reduce insomnia
→ Move brainwave patterns into the healthiest, most advanced states
→ Activate your body's highly beneficial "relaxation response"
→ Enhance your intuition, creativity, and ability to succeed
→ Achieve the mindset to attract and manifest the life you want
→ Turn back the clock, boost vitality, feel more energized
→ Increase emotional resilience, become more psychologically balanced
→ And much more.

"Any man could, if he were so inclined, be the sculptor of his own brain." — Santiago Ramon y Cajal
The "Balanced" Corpus Callosum:
How Meditation Boosts Creativity, Brain Power
Your brain has two hemispheres, left and right.
According to Dr. Roger Sperry's Nobel Prize winning "split-brain" studies, like a dominant hand, most of us heavily favor one side of our brain.
"Each hemisphere is a conscious system in its own right, perceiving, thinking, remembering, reasoning, willing, and emoting, all at a characteristically human level," said the great neuroscientist.
Dr. Sperry's model suggests that left-brained people are generally more logical, practical, and analytical, often better at math and science. Right-brained people are generally more imaginative, intuitive, and sensual, often excelling at philosophy and the arts.
While a great deal of Dr Sperry's "left brain / right brain" research still holds true today, certain parts of his model have been updated over the last 40 years. For example, neuroscientists have recently learned that highly creative people are actually "whole brain" thinkers rather than just "right brain" thinkers. However, his "imbalanced" brain findings have stood the test of time. That's the focus here.
How To Balance Your Brain
Like a tennis player with one big, strong, and coordinated arm and one scrawny, weak, and uncoordinated arm — because our dominant brain hemisphere gets so much action, most of us have "over-strengthened" one side of our noggin while "neglecting" the other.
"Then, what about people like Elon Musk, Richard Branson, and Steve Jobs, where do they fit into this so called "left brain, right brain" paradigm?"
Brain imaging studies have shown that highly successful, massively creative people use both brain halves in a much more balanced and integrated way than the rest of us. After his brain was posthumously examined, Einstein was found to be in this category.
"I want to make my brain highly connected, balanced, and working "in-sync" like these super humans. Is this possible?"
Yes! Through meditation!
Meditation Balances The Brain, Brings Big Benefits
A 2012 UCLA School of Medicine study found that the "corpus callosum," the grand central station-like cable of nerves cross-linking the brain hemispheres, was remarkably stronger, thicker, and more well connected in meditation practitioners.
For those of us looking to maximize our potential, what does this monumental neuroplastic "healthy brain" discovery mean?
By constructing a "hyper-connected," "ultra-efficient" bridge between our brain halves, meditation puts an abrupt end to our "Neuro-Cold-War," integrating our "east" and "west" brain hemispheres after a lifetime of separation.
Harmonizing both brain hemispheres opens the door to a smorgasbord of benefits, with better focus, deeper thought, super creativity, excellent mental health, enhanced memory, and clearer thinking just the start.
