Human Butterfly 🦋
What are the aims of inner work towards greater adaptability, emotional intelligence and soul development?
They will be different for each person but have some commonalities between us. For me, there's a clear picture which is written into an affirming meditation that is part of my daily practice (more will be shared at the end of this series.) There's really no ending point as a destination.
The intelligent design of Nature is a continual evolution in cycles outwards through existence and returning into the Source I Am. Within the scaled context of an individuated unit of consciousness such as a human being, with its fractalized cycles, and individual journey, there can be benchmarks along the way set by desires of the heart. Also to consider are the purposes of the soul journey.
The personal experience of a lifetime is highly disturbed and distorted by many impedences of what could be called the fallen and quarantined condition of earth and her creatures. Currently we are in a period of great upheaval which has origins and ramifications far beyond such things as the great reset and agenda of the human dark lords.
A way of expressing the benchmarks of my aspirations includes ever higher octaves of frequency which manifest in eternal qualities of unconditional love, ever greater service to the Source I Am which is the source of Love for Love Itself, and the harmonious unifying of all aspects of my whole human being. These can help balance and stabilize the condition mentioned as well as propel me forward, and details are written into my daily practice.
William Blake wrote in the poem 'Eternity':
'He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy;
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sunrise.'
When a caterpillar undergoes metamorphosis, it spins a chrysalis (or cocoon, depending on the species) to protect itself during the transformation. Inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar's body undergoes a complex process of restructuring, where tissues, organs, and even cells break down and reform into the adult butterfly or moth.
The caterpillar secretes enzymes that dissolve its tissues, and these nutrients are used to fuel the development of the adult insect. The transformation is a gradual process of cell differentiation and reorganization, leading to the emergence of a fully formed butterfly or moth.
The newly formed adult insect struggles to emerge from the chrysalis, as it needs to expand its wings and let them dry before it can fly. This struggle is essential for strengthening its wings, preparing it for its life in the outside world.
Human souls encased in the body may metamorph across lifetimes, with or without an ending of that process. In an infinite multiverse, awareness may expand indefinitely with multiple morphs.
A difference from the caterpillar-butterfly analogy is that humans make conscious choices along the way, to evolve or not.
Looking at history, it's easy to interpret that most humans have chosen on some level not to mature as souls, or to live from them. That may be a somewhat judgmental and superficial view. Still, accountability on the individual scale cannot be ignored or avoided. Never has the call to personal responsibility been more urgent.
In his poem "Paracelsus," Robert Browning wrote:
'Truth is within ourselves; it takes no rise
From outward things, whate'er you may believe.
There is an inmost center in us all,
Where truth abides in fullness; and around,
Wall upon wall, the gross flesh hems it in,
This perfect, clear perception—which is truth.
A baffling and perverting carnal mesh
Binds it, and makes all error: and, to know,
Rather consists in opening out a way
Whence the imprisoned splendor may escape,
Than in effecting entry for a light
Supposed to be without.'
