White Water Buffalo
Last night a white water buffalo appeared in my dreams. The text of this post is re-printed from Totem Talk. The image was found on the AnamCare Project web site (see credits.) All three of the Cretan projects we visited are the visions of single individuals with wonderful and worthy ideas, without resources or substance for manifestation. Of the three, Lucky's dream of revitalizing his home village is the most workable. He is truly a kind and hard-working hands-on visionary. None of the Workaways, though, were projects or settings with which we could engage.
Far from feeling any regret at this point, I actually feel more alive and energized in spirit than ever, though my physical force is low. Crete itself does have a potent and mysterious force as others have written.... Whether I live, as I have, in a desert-land or a rain-forest, among rugged mountain peaks or on a soft seacoast, in a metropolis of millions or a remote wilderness, what is more significant is where I live within.
The even mind is what matters most to me, and determines my quality of life. It becomes the inner landscape which sees me through whatever tries my soul. I cannot fake an even mind. Either I am there or I am not. If not, my mind becomes a torment in the turmoil of emotions. When I can feel the truth of gratitude for what is, in every cell of my body, I have mastered the outer circumstances. Free WIFI in the only cafe in this Greek mountain village of 25 residents enables me to write and post. The cafe is self service, with a bowl covered by a pan for payment, and its doors are open 24/7. People help themselves to a beer or soft drink from the cooler, make their own coffee, pick up a packaged pastry or locally made marmalade and pay on the honor system.
All things are for a reason. This morning I feel more inspired than I have since our travels began. This unplanned travel picture journal includes my deeper personal feelings, beyond the philosophical explorations of my earlier writings.
I would still choose all that has happened, because it provides the proper stimulus to do our inner work. Not that I would deliberately put ourselves into jeopardy, but now that we're in it, I am grateful for the gifts it hides. Feeling to be on the verge of mental-emotional breakdown, we talked and cried through most of the night in a room in the 'paradise village' of Azogires. The torment was in our minds, rolling over us in heavy waves of regret for decisions made and despair over a projected future.
The inner voice spoke to me, 'Focus on what is real. What is real is what is now. I am grateful for what is now.' The book, Boundless Awareness by Michael A. Rodriguez was recommended to me by a new friend with whom I felt an immediate heartfelt connection, himself the author of a book, Reality Unveiled. After reading the introduction, it was apparent that this is a book to share with others — with anyone having an interest in awakening, enlightening, or self-realizing.
We are living in times when this elevation of awareness is more vital and essential than ever. Excerpts from the book will be shared in shorter posts for more digestible reading. Here is the first installment. |
