I posted a question in discussion groups, about the 'human condition.' This post contains responses and comments. Daniel Stephens [in response to the last question of my post, 'What will bring lasting change (to the human condition)?] I think ‘unconditional love’, but that is a truth we couldn’t safely admit until we could explain the human condition. The human condition is to love everything unconditionally. I think our happiness depends on our capacity to love. For me, love is not sexual attraction and romance. Love is a universal property, it's fundamental. Love is more fundamental than mathematics and physics, but that can be difficult to stomach and accept if you're coming from the scientific paradigm. I think our understanding of the word 'Love' is very unsophisticated and juvenile. Fundamentally, people refuse to admit that the universe can have any human qualities, and of course, Love from that scientific paradigm seems like an airy-fairy, flaky thing which has nothing to do with objective reality. Conditional love is what normally people think of. It's loving the material things, it's a love of the things that serve the agenda of the ego. The ego only knows how to love conditionally. The ego simply loves the things that help the self, and it hates those things which don't help it. The ego is a creating of a boundary within reality and saying that everything within the boundary is extra special and important. Unconditional love is the absolute acceptance of everything. The reason that the universe could say has love is because the universe accepts itself completely. It's not resisting any part of itself, it loves every piece of itself. It's to love all of reality without exception. It's to love so deeply that evil (War, Famine, Cancer, Criminal, etc) is an impossibility. A love so deep that you can't even imagine what evil is because you love everything so much that there's no more room left for evil to exist. I think a true test of your love is non-judgement. How non-judgemental can you be? The realization that all judgement is a delusion. The universe at it's highest level doesn't judge itself, doesn't hate itself, doesn't discriminate itself. From a universal perspective, everything within the universe is perfect. Love is the ability to be conscious of the beauty of creation. Are you conscious of the beauty of creation right now as it's happening before you? If you are then you're gonna be falling in love with every moment of creation. When a human being is experiencing love like family, friends, supporting your sports team, your cat and dog. This is a little sliver of universal love. That's what makes it so interesting, but of course, most people are so numb and mesmerised by everyday survival needs that they completely lose sight of this. I to fall in this trap, but I see the potential for human mankind if we just become more self-aware about the big picture, which loving each other a little bit more. ### Gary Daniel Stephens ~ your writing inspires me to respond more fully than I can in one sitting. Before opening the iPad, I awakened in this pre-dawn with the thought regarding current circumstances, 'l can only beam unconditional love.' It was to say, I have to let go of all thoughts of what is right and wrong in this situation, let go of all defense and judgment, let go of trying to fix it, and come from a place of constant unconditional love. There is much on unconditional love, including the perspective of the ancient Greeks, on the Whole Human site. The link below is to a saved search on that site. Although it might seem self-serving, since I write and manage Whole Human, I invite you and readers to take a look: Mike Murad wrote, 'It appears that unconditional Love simply exists as a baseline to existence.... Love is the lack of attributes and cannot be known as it is the subject to all objects....' Gary Yes! The undifferentiated Void! The unmoved mover. The pre-frequency predecessor of the Present Moment. Labels for the unlabel-able. Yet, as unconditional love, it has attributes. I call the Present Moment the first-born of the undifferentiated Void. I see unconditional love as a human interpretation of one of the attributes of the Present Moment, the One Light. What are some of the attributes of unconditional love? It is Love for no reason, Love for love itself, a hearty energy frequency which is self-existent and self-sufficient. Though not exactly the same, unconditional love shares some characteristics with the Present Moment: The present moment is timeless, and universal. The present moment is boundless, and unconditioned. The present moment is the observer, and witness of all things. The present moment is love; for love itself. The present moment is the first born of the unmoved mover. The present moment is the unified field, and the creative source. The present moment is the spirit, and essence, and presence, of nature.
