CRETAN ADVENTURE 009

After weighing the options of dragging our luggage through airports or shipping them by truck, we opted for lightening our load and donated the excess to the sisters who manage the Hotel Castell where we stay.

The sisters are exceptionally sweet and helpful, and were happy to consider where the items could go. Our ukulele will go to a music teacher of children, the design rubber stamps to an artist in clay, and the bivi bag (a small one man tent) to a small homeless man. The backpack will stay at the hotel until the summer season, when people without much cash sometimes ask for items left by guests. I am leaving behind my 'ghost detector' (EMF meter) and other electronics gladly, in favor of the found crystals of Crete. Niki and Katerine, I am sure, will find the best possible homes for our eclectic collection.

The hotel has been an amazing highlight of our Cretan Adventure, coming at a time when we were feeling a need for a break. Other breaks also came just in time, such as when we were walking and hitch-hiking on the highway to Hania, and just when I said to Kati, 'I'd be happy to see a bus about now,' not five minutes later, one appeared and stopped for us without a bus stop.

The photos in this post's slide-show are my parting shots of Kissamos, and mostly self explanatory I think. One which may stand out as an odd choice is the shower in our hotel room. Why would I include that? Because today I toned long A and long O in the shower, and enjoyed the reverberation of the rounded glass enclosure. It was especially potent and afterwards I felt stronger. Being strong is in the blood of the Cretan people.

I needed some potency today, as my body has felt weighed down. For a vegetarian, the Cretan diet, loaded with bread, dairy and sweets (and complementary bottles of wine and raki,) along with the astrological influences reported by Kaypacha, have not been supportive of feeling vital. I am also aware of a need for another kind of movement for my body's well-being. A change is coming with our move to an ashram in the Black Forest, where the diet is raw vegan and yoga is a part of the lifestyle. My practice of Heart Breathing has been an appreciated source of strength.

Now at the Chania airport, I am able to bring this post to more satisfactory completion with the addition of last minute photos of the sister managers of the Hotel Castell, Niki and Katerine.
