ONENESS

Lines from prose I wrote as a high school senior in 1971
come back to me now, coinciding with the new science
​proposed by the Biocentrism books, and the One Being Mantra.

Back then, I wrote:

The night is lonely, the
air chilled and silent. i
walk the sidewalks slowly.

Wondering, what is real?
studying my hand:
is this body mine?

Probing the bark of a tree
with my fingers
becoming the tree
sprouting buds
soaking up warm sunshine
drawing moist earth up through
my roots.
How am i different from this tree,
from the blades of grass on the lawn,
the stars in the heaven above?
Why do i have a border
why do my molecules not
blend with the air
Why is there always me and it? -
my essence apart from all other existence
where do my thoughts come from?

The shadows on the ground
the reflection in the window say
i am.
Traveling along the myriad roads
so many lead to nowhere
the happiness they bring
is there and gone
after reaching the highest point

they allow
one may go no further.
But the Joy of being
One with the Universe
knows no limits,
for the Universe is without limit.

What would it be like to be
an air bubble,
drifting upward
from the lake bottom
through the deep waters,
and rising above the surface to
burst
then become one with the air
and mingle with the atmosphere
and course through the veins
of the winds?...

Be at peace now,
for you have found yourself
you are fulfilled
the Universe is You.​

FROM 'BEYOND BIOCENTRISM':

A first-hand experience (no chemical inducement involved) recounted by Bob Berman, co-author of the Biocentrism books:

The best that I can say is that 'I' was suddenly gone, replaced by the certainty of being the entire cosmos. There was absolute peace.

'I knew with total confidence, not logically — because, as I said, Bob was no longer present — that birth and death do not exist. That all is present eternally, that time is unreal, and that all is one. The joy was beyond anything I could have imagined. The to-the-marrow certainty could perhaps be better described as a *recognition*, an ancient familiarity of being Home....

'When a person came into view, I *was* this person. The universe was one entity for all time. There were not billions of humans and animals. There was *one* living, deathless entity....

'This experience lasted three weeks, during which time no thought flitted across my consciousness. But eventually the ongoing stream of mental chatter, of being an individual, an observer, returned — accompanied by loss of the peace and oneness....'

FROM 'ONE BEING MANTRA':

Calm your mind, relax your body, and visualize, with feeling, the boundless cosmos of consciousness, suffusing everything, the One Being.

Breathe the One Being, deeply into the sphere around your heart. Affirm, We are the One Being, the boundless cosmos of consciousness.

Exhale the immense energies out from your heart sphere, out through your body, radiating them back to the One Being you are.

Breathe the One Being, deeply into the sphere around your heart. Feel the unconditional love, which binds together the Observer and Observed.

Exhale the energy of love for love itself, out from your heart sphere, out through your body, radiating it back to the One Being you are.

People capable of remaining CONTINUOUSLY in a state of direct contact with the True Self come along about once every five to ten centuries or so.
