To a Facebook discussion group thread on the subject of surrender, I responded. Questions in bold are from the original post (re-worded by me) and my comments follow the questions. Do beliefs about humility help us reach our full potential? G - It depends. In general, in my experience, beliefs about anything do not directly help us reach our full potential. However, even a stumbling block can become a stepping stone on one's journey, as I have proven to myself many times. It also depends on what we surrender, and to who or what we surrender it to, and how we surrender- from what motive. Potential is never fully reached, but is realized in a process sometimes called awakening. When I surrender my constrictions to the One Light, it definitely helps me realize my full potential. Do we really need to worship a deity? G - Need to? No. Can it be part of our journey? Yes. I went from a metaphysical worldview into a fundamentalist, evangelical Christian belief system, for about fourteen years. Looking back, it seems like a period of darkness in a self-imposed prison. Yet it also served a purpose in the larger picture. Have we ... forgotten the gift of being Human... a divine expression of sexual Love disguised in a body? G - We? Sexual Love? I had my sexual exploration. Been there, done that. Explored Tantra, and sexual 'Love' as a divine expression. Would not go back into that mis-guided path anymore than I would go back to religious beliefs. The ancient Greeks had eight types of love. I choose Agape over Eros. Is surrendering to anything outside of us really worth the cost? G - Possibly, if it is part of some higher purpose. In my case, it was. I learned so much from that experience, which deepened my compassion and understanding for those who surrender to their devotional beliefs. What needs surrendering is our self-imposed limitations.... The true surrender to being is merging with "That" which we already are. G - Yes, I can align with that statement. In that place of pure potential, there is nothing to achieve, plan for or pursue, and there is no premeditated outcome, no "spiritual self" with a purpose. G - Right on. This is the ultimate state of "allowance" and "acceptance." It’s an open invitation... get ready to be the presence of Love…. G - In actions, not in words only. Surrender to the One Light is an essential element of the One Light moving meditation (excerpt following): Exhale up slowly, moving the One Light from your heart space, back up to the Eye of Ra, feeling it expand into the elixir field. Inhale the One Light, from the elixir field, through the Eye of Ra, into the sphere around your heart. Feel the One Light filling that sphere. Exhale the One Light from your heart sphere, out to your body, radiating every cell with the Present Moment Light. Inhale the Chi of your body with the One Light, back into the sphere around your heart. Enter that space, and see a figure standing, the guardian of your heart, your inner knowing and wisdom. Exhale slowly, lower your head, radiate your light energies, and hold both hands, palms up, in front of your chest, to receive. Feel the guardian place into your hands, a cup filled with liquid, charged with the energies of your constrictions. Drink down the liquid, then move the cup to the hands on the area of your heart, pull it out, move your cupped hands to your mouth, and breathe the One Light into your hands, knowing that your constrictions are seen by your Third Eye. Say and feel, 'I surrender my constrictions to the One Light.' Random images on the internet this week:
