In the past few months, the abstract and conceptual Void has grown as close to my personal, human experience as my breath and heartbeat.... This growing intimacy with the Void deepened as recently as yesterday, as I was writing another revision of the Present Moment Brocades, Version 12.7 while riding in the bus from Malaga on the Andalusian coast to Vilafranca in the Catalonian hills of Spain.
1/9/2020 The sixteen hour bus ride was a supportive setting for going more deeply into breathing specific characteristics of the Void. The idea had germinated a few days earlier ~ I'd written one breath into the Present Moment Brocades and started practicing it, so it was 'working' in me. On the bus is where a characteristic for each of the nine movements was written. The nine were further refined afterwards, as I practiced the movements to the recorded voice and re-worded some for clarity in audible form. Focusing on breathing the Void made the bus ride more bearable, as well. Each of the movements is a piece of brocade, based on and evolved from the 'Eight Pieces of Brocade', with a ninth added. In Version 12.8 (written in the midst of intensive energies while staying at the Alaya Retreat,) these breaths of the Void end each movement and provide closure and transition. When the breaths are really focused and felt, I find them very helpful as refreshers in moments over the day.
